Public Advocacy, Speaking, appearances
As a chronic pain patient following a motor vehicle accident, I spent the next 15 years slowly poisoning my body with pills that didn't even touch my severe, unrelenting chronic pain.
At the time there was nothing else available.
As soon as Louisiana legalized medical marijuana (MMJ), I signed up.
Although I still struggle every day with chronic pain, MMJ has helped me more than anything else. The side effects of opioids were horrible and switching to MMJ prevented further damage to my body.
MMJ has changed my life and I have been spreading the word ever since, hoping to spare anyone the pain that 15 years of opioids caused me.
Because this is a new treatment, education is key and I urge people to find a doctor that specializes in MMJ (you wouldn't go to a foot doctor for your brain!).
I advocate for a physician designed transition protocol to help patients transition from opioids to MMJ. I also advocate for both a state and national MMJ Patients' Bill of Rights to protect medical patients from the ever-changing recreational market.
I volunteer as a public speaker for both large and small gatherings, special events + media appearances in hopes of raising awareness and helping others about this possible therapy. Email me at angela@lammj.org if you would like to request a collaboration.
