Soothe those aching bones with LAMMJ’s DIY Cannabody Butter, or as I like to call it, my “Love Potion Lotion.” It’s so so easy to whip up a little batch of this herbal homemade body lotion or massage oil.
It’s customizable. The stiffer you like it the longer you whip it.
Save a little of your canna coconut butter the next time you make some edibles and turn it into a luxurious body butter, that smells a little bit like chocolate.
I think there’s a Randy Watson “Coming to America” joke in there somewhere.
First you need to make the Marijuana Oil, Cannabutter, Magical Coconut Butter or WTF-ever you like to call it.
Here is a handy recipe if you have an infusion machine (i.e. weed slow cooker):

Step 1:
You can either use a double boiler, or the microwave to melt the oils.
Double Boiler Method:
Using a double boiler, place a heatproof bowl on top of a pot filled with a couple of inches of water. Bring to low simmer, ensuring the bowl doesn't touch the water.
Add your shea butter, cocoa butter, and marijuana oil of choice (Coconut is my fave. Olive oil comes in a close second…see oil descriptions below for more info).
Gently melt all the ingredients, using a spatula to stir them well.
Once melted, remove the bowl from the heat and place it in the fridge to cool for about 45 - 60 minutes.
Microwave Method:
To a large microwave-safe measuring cup or bowl, add the shea butter, cocoa butter, and marijuana oil
of choice.
Melt the ingredients together in the microwave in 20-second increments, stopping to stir, and being very careful not to burn or overheat the oil.
Pour the melted oils into the bowl of your stand mixer or another large heat-proof bowl, then place the bowl in the fridge to cool for about 45 - 60 minutes.
Step 2:
Whip It Good
Experiment with it and see which one you like best…but remember it’s always best to test a very small area of skin to make sure it agrees with your body chemistry.
Almond Oil: Almond oil has been shown to help reduce inflammation. It is rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids, making it a great emollient and moisturizer for the skin. It has a soothing and kinda drying feeling to it.
Coconut Oil: My all-time-fave because it feels so silky smooth and shiny. Coconut oil nourishes and hydrates your skin, leaving it soft and supple. Sometimes though, coconut oil can clog people’s pores, so keep an eye out.
Unrefined coconut oil smells like a week at the beach in the 80’s whereas refined coconut oil is scentless. This oil makes your love potion more firm, so if you like a butter or salve this is the choice for you.
Grapeseed Oil: This is what we make beignets with, but it’s great on skin, too, because it’s lightweight and rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants. Grapeseed Oil moisturizes, tightens, and tones your skin while helping replenish collagen.
Jojoba Oil: Super silky and feels like natural skin. Jojoba oil moisturizes, soothes, and balances skin, making it a good choice for oily skin types.
Olive Oil: As an Italian girl, you know I love me some olive oil—especially if it involves a lotion. Olive oil can aid in improving skin elasticity. It is commonly used for drier skin or us over 40+ ladies. This oil is heavy and feels heavy but boy does it shine. This oil can clog pores because it is so heavy so if your skin breaks out, try a little bit on your at first to see how it goes.
Sunflower Seed Oil: Satiny oil that is rich in vitamins A, D, and E, sunflower seed oil helps retain moisture, soothes and calms the skin—making it just perfect for dry and sensitive skin.
